Agile Development + Scrum Project Management

A rugby term for the way in which an out-of-play ball is returned to active play.

A way to get a complex project done, while respecting the realities of good code production. Consists of 30 day sprints -- regular meetings, progress updates and team autonomy -- resulting in tested and shippable code meeting required features. Features are pulled by the team, TeamOwner and ScrumMaster from the Project Backlog.

Rules Are Important

The goal is to produce the best code available in the shortest time, while fostering team ownership of the project. Each S

The Invisible Man

So, I've been thinking a bit lately on technology's role in learning, or eLearning, if you will. My goal as CTO is to become the invisible man. Tech should serve users, not the other way around.

As is obvious from this website, I'm an opensource advocate and lately have been annoyed with how much 'stuff' old-school software vendors impose on the users of their products. If you really set down and think about the major barriers to innovation, you must consider the so-called 'investment' in 'the way it's always been done' near the top of the list. How many proprietary companies are actively trying to become invisible? Their corporate mission is precisely the opposite.

What Does Being 'Joe Jobbed' Mean?

Mail messages that appear to come from you or someone in your organization...A likely possibility is that you have been joe-jobbed... more or yet more

Check the originating mailserver in the message headers... if it's not yours, you did not send it. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do about it. For most - unlike the gentleman at the first link above - being joe-jobbed is annoying, but essentially harmless.

Useful Samba Networking Commands

There are several useful commands available to the Samba network admin.

When it comes to networking, there are two important points of view... what the server sees and what the client sees. Windows networking relies on extensive (and complex) caching on each client. Sometimes a wait of 5-15 minutes will solve network 'issues' on a client. Other times the server is responsible. You must look in both places to determine the source(s) of your problem(s).

Why Drupal? (What is a CMS anyway?)
